A new Angina Treatment

I wonder if I wrote about this before. Regardless this is the update. They called me from the hospital today wanting to know if I can come in on Thursday for a follow up checkup, to test the results of the new angina treatment study medication that I am taking.
Mrs A. sounded totally disappointed when I told her that I stopped taking the medications a while back. I told her that it sure didn't work for me. She asked me to come in anyway. I will. The appointment is Thursday. They will take make my bloods, give me an EKG and all the rest. I will know the results then.
Anyway, when they do find a new treatment for angina, please let me know. Thank You

Risk Factors For Heart Disease

It is very interesting to see that there is so much confusion as to what the risk factors for heart disease are. Most of the research on heart disease risk factors were done based on the farmingham study, yet the evidence seems inconclusive.

Over the years, the most common know heart disease risk factors, included, High Blood Pressure, cholesterol, overweight and obesity, and smoking. Some less known risk factors were c-reactive protein, and high homocysteine. This weeks article in the New York Times Studies Suggest B Vitamins Don't Prevent Heart Attacks - New York Times about homocysteine just shattered that theory.

Interestingly enough on the same day in the NYT there was this article Questions Are Raised About the Safety of a Major Heart Drug - New York Times that Plavix may not be the ultimate solution that it was thought to be.

The other known risk factors such as Genes, Depression and stress seem to be getting more attention lately. Hopefully the solution will be found soon. I surely hope so.
